Marketing Education

2-Year Program
at the ATC with labs at local hotels
Co-op students are assisted with job placement.

The Hotel Program is designed to give students an introduction to the Hospitality industry and the opportunity to practice these skills in a local hotel and through participation in the student organization – DECA, an association of marketing students. Both first and second year students participate in community service activities, local and state competitions and various social activities.

HOTEL OPERATIONS (ME 8161) - Year 1
VBCPS: 2 credits, 1 year, Grades 11-12 or

HOTEL OPERATIONS CO-OP (ME8160)
VBCPS: 3 credits, one year, Grade 11-12

Students discover the many jobs available in the hospitality industry and learn lifelong skills for high level job performance. Classroom instruction is combined with job shadowing in local hotels. Students are eligible to take the National Retail Federation Customer Service Certification exam.

Students must provide their own transportation to offsite location

Marketing Management:
(ME 8223) - YEAR 1
VBCPS: 2 credits per year, 1 year, Grades 11-12

MARKETING MANAGEMENT CO-OP (ME 8222)
VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 1 year, Grades 11-12

In this exciting off-campus class, students will be introduced to the foundations of management and the fundamental operations of business in a real life setting. Selling, advertising, loss prevention, green marketing and financial preparedness are only a few of the units of study that students will experience.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to earn a national certification. The class meets daily at Pembroke Mall/Town Center and students are responsible for their own transportation.

Advanced Marketing Management (ME 8243) - YEAR 2
VBCPS: 2 credits per year, 1 year, Grade 12
Prerequisite: Marketing Management or a marketing class

Advanced Marketing Management CO-OP (ME 8242)
VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 1 year, Grade 12
Prerequisite: Marketing Management or a marketing class

Students who have successfully completed Marketing Management (or another general marketing course) will advance to the hands on learning activities that support managing and owning your own business. The concepts of entrepreneurship and marketing management will be addressed along with project planning, financial investment strategies, business plan writing and Town Center field trips. Students will have the opportunity to earn an additional national certification. The class meets daily at Pembroke Mall/Town Center and students are responsible for their own transportation.
