TELECOMMUNICATIONS I & II
(AT 8680/8681)

VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 2 years, Grades 11-12; TCC: TBA

This two-year program offers students the skills to learn about the installation of voice, video, and data systems. They will be able to apply critical thinking and trouble shooting skills in the design and installation of low-voltage wiring systems. Topics to be covered include: electronics, structured cabling (residential and commercial cabling); house automation (HVAC, lighting, security, and music); telephone systems (local and long distance); cabling systems (video and data); satellite television; and telephone. Students will prepare for the Certified Telecommunications Technician, Satellite Technician, and Certified Fiber Optics Technician through the Electronics Technicians Associations International (ETA).
