High Performance Manufacturing and Engineering

This three course program of study prepares students to speak the language of engineering, architecture, and manufacturing, utilizing the latest Autodesk software. Students typically begin their studies with Engineering Design; then followed by either Architectural or Marine Engineering & Design. Students prepare for Autodesk certification in AutoCAD, Revit, and Inventor software applications, as well as the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) assessment.

ENGINEERING DESIGN (AT 8530)
VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 1 year

Students receive extensive training in the techniques of engineering and mechanical design; developing the assembly drawings, parts lists, and detail sheets essential to the design and manufacture of the products we take for granted every day. This course provides students with the essential CADD skills required to advance in this field.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN (AT 8531)
VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 1 year
Prerequisite(s): Engineering Design (AT 8530) or Basic Technical Drawing (TE 8435)

Do you have dreams
of becoming the next Frank Lloyd Wright? Architectural Design students will design their own dream houses and commercial buildings; developing complete sets of building plans, and 3D visualizations of their creations.

MARINE ENGINEERING & DESIGN (AT 8532)
VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 1 year
Prerequisite(s): Engineering Design (AT 8530) or Basic Technical Drawing (TE 8435)

Would you like to be sought after by many of the region's largest employers? Marine Engineering & Design introduces students to Naval Architecture and the engineering behind the world's most advanced sea going vessels. Students are given the opportunity to design their own boats; designed to meet exacting criteria. They may even see their vessel actually built by expert shipbuilders!

ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY I (AT 8436)
ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY II (AT 8437)

VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 2 years

Engineering Technology is for students interested in a career in engineering, robotics, manufacturing, or industrial management. From automobiles to airplanes, cell phones to computers, stereos to ships, it all has to be designed, engineered, and produced. This two-year program provides students with foundational skills in areas, such as engineering technology, robotics, computer integrated manufacturing, materials science, and applied physics. Students prepare for the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) assessment in Manufacturing Technology.

MODELING AND SIMULATION (AT 8462)
VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 1 year

Students use 3ds Max software to create, modify, light, animate, and add special effects to virtual 3D models and environments that can be used to simulate activities in the medicine, transportation, military, gaming, and advertising fields.?Students should be co-enrolled in or have successfully completed Geometry. Some computer aided drafting experience is preferred.? Basic Technical Drawing (TE 8435) is required for potential credit with Old Dominion University.? Students prepare for the 3ds Max Certification. The majority of the Modeling and Simulation post graduates pursue college degrees in Graphic Design, Computer Science, and Engineering-related programs.
