In 2001, Ms. Lavender’s program was chosen as an Exemplary Program by the National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education, one of only six chosen from over 100 nominations. According to Mrs. Lavender, “this honor, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, allowed the Computer Network Administrator Program to be a model site.”

In addition to the above, she also set-up the Prometric Testing Center at the ATC and is the SkillsUSA sponsor. Mrs. Lavender earned a Bachelors of Science, Computer Information Systems degree, plus an Associates Degree in Data Processing and over seven different, major industry certifications.

The students see him as a role model because the success he has obtained in his career is the result of hard work, and professional behavior. The students are also aware that he has continued his education by earning the Cisco Certified Inter-network Expert (CCIE) certification. According to the Cisco Web site, “Less than three percent of all Cisco certified professionals earn their CCIE.” Corey is able to meet deadlines and he is always willing to give back to the community.
