Linda
Lavender, Computer
Network Administrator
Instructor was
recently voted
the Advanced Technology
Center (ATC) Teacher
of the Year. Mrs.
Lavender has taught
for nine years
with Virginia Beach
City Public Schools. She
came to the school
system from private
industry where
she worked as a
technical computer
instructor for
Electronic Systems.
Through
her work with technical
education, her
students were the
first high school
students in the
world to participate
in Novel Certified
Network Administrator
training. In 2001,
Ms. Lavender’s
program was chosen
as an Exemplary
Program by the
National Dissemination
Center for Career
and Technical Education,
one of only six
chosen from over
100 nominations.
According to Mrs.
Lavender, “this
honor, which is
sponsored by the
U.S. Department
of Education, allowed
the Computer Network
Administrator Program
to be a model site.”
In
addition to the
above, she also
set-up the Prometric
Testing Center
at the ATC and
is the SkillsUSA
sponsor. Mrs.
Lavender earned
a Bachelors of
Science, Computer
Information Systems
degree, plus
an Associates
Degree in Data
Processing and
over seven different,
major industry
certifications. |
