Internship Opportunities

[Internship Opportunities]Internships are hands-on, real-world work experiences related to a student’s course of study at the ATC. Students will participate in a learning plan and will accomplish the designated tasks utilizing specific career skills as agreed upon by Virginia Beach City Public School’s ATC and the company. The program is voluntary and offered at the discretion and recommendation of the teacher. Internships are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. In order to be considered for an internship students must be…

– Recommended by their ATC instructor, demonstrate satisfactory completion of the Virginia’s Workplace Readiness Skills competencies, and have passed their industry certification exam(s) if the internship involves excused class time.

– In good academic standing, and in compliance with guidelines of the Student Handbook.

– Responsible for excellent attendance and behavior.

– Able to provide their own transportation to and from the internship location.

– Able to demonstrate a positive work attitude.

– Responsible for adhering to an appropriate business dress code.

Instructors will be notified of internships related to their class as they become available.

Those who have questions about the internship possibilities at the ATC or who have an interest in participating should contact Ann Marie Garvey, Assistant Director, Student Programs and Business Development Advanced Technology Center, at 468-8960 or via e-mail at amgarvey@vbschools.com.
