

Course description
Can you recognize and solve the most common technical problems associated with personal computers(PCs)?
Gain the skills to build and configure PCs and learn to troubleshoot associated hardware and software while learning to configure and maintain a basic client server network. Experience this and more as you prepare for the A+ certification exams offered by CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association).

Students should
• Have an interest and desire to learn about troubleshooting software/hardware.
• Enjoy problem solving and be capable of applying basic math skills during the troubleshooting process.
• Have a B average or better in a memory intensive course, such as: Algebra I, Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, and Earth Science. Binary and hexadecimal code will be taught.
• Have a strong work ethic.
Career possibilities (entry level and with additional education)
• Computer Technician (High school diploma)
• Associate (AS or AAS) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
Related college programs
• Potential college credit with Tidewater Community College when applied towards an Associate of Applied Science degree.
